| This is really bugging me. A couple of weeks ago I was using Core Temp .95.4 (beta) and it was working fine. Today I try to run it and it won’t work. I keep getting the message "The driver has failed to load! Some information will not be available." I did a search on line and others have had this problem with Windows Vista and there is a workaround (You must start up, press F8 and select the Disable driver signature enforcement. Then when the system starts Core Temp 0.95.4 will work fine.) but I am using Windows XP, so I am stumped. I haven’t read of any others having this problem on XP. I can get Core Temp .95 (non-beta) version to work but I would like to know why the beta version was once working and now it isn’t. Another problem and I don’t know if it is related. A couple of weeks ago I wanted to try the defragging software Perfectdisk 8.0 and it installed properly and was working. I later decided to try Diskeeper first so I restored my computer using an image. Now I would like to try Perfectdisk again but when I install it, I get an error that says something to the effect that it can’t write to the registry. I may write to the company to see if they have any ideas but, once again, something that was working is not working now. The only major changes I can think of that I made to my system are Diskeeper (which I did uninstall to see if PD would load but it wouldn’t) and an update to a newer version of my firewall, Outpost 2008. I appreciate any ideas you might have. | I use Symantec Ghost 12.0. I have been using Ghost for many years and have never had a problem with it that I know of. I see what you mean in that it seems those problems started after restoring an image but I restore images frequently and have never noticed anything before. Have you seen similar types of problems with imaging programs before? Thanks. | I don't know why it's not working, but if .95 (non-beta) is working, why not just stick with that? | It is the puzzle that is bugging me. True, I don't need .95.4 to work if I can use .95 but obviously something is wrong and I want to find out what. Other changes to my system I can think of were the monthly XP fixes from Microsoft. | When was the last time you used your Ghost program? I have a funny feeling that is where your problem might lie. Bailey. |

| I use the Ghost program all the time. I just did tonight. And I have used it for years with no apparent problems. | Have you had any other problems with drivers lately? I have a feeling you may have lost a file or two in transfers. JM.02 Bailey. |

| T-Rex | I've personally experienced problems with imaging programs that work from inside Windows such as Norton Ghost 12. Have you done your image from inside Windows or you used the bootdisk method? As for your perfectdisk error, we can try to solve that by manually changing the rights to the key it's trying to write or modify. It's not a very complicated process in itself, send me a PM if you're interested. :) |
