Default Computrace LoJack for Laptops Review

Regardless of where you purchased your notebook, there's a pretty good chance you were given the option to purchase LoJack for Laptops. A yearly sub scri ption runs $49.99, or three years for $99.99. But can you really buy peace of mind against hardware theft in a software package? And what concessions in performance will you have to make to run LoJack? We set out to tackle these questions and more, and the results may just surprise you...

Good review, and considering the number of laptop being stole daily it's hard not to invest in some kind of protection. Hardware locks are interesting but they can all be defeated rather easily by creative crooks, whereas a "software" solution such as LoJack should prove being a bit more difficult.

Nice review!! It's hard keeping laptops "secure", whenever I have a laptop with me I always keep it by my side. But keeping "software" safe is a whole different thing.......

very interesting, i know that anyone who suffers from paranoia and learned that every laptop has lo jack would freak and think they are being spyed on/ tracked by that company! hahaha

On a side note, it kinda sounds like lo jack is dumb in the way that, someone could steal a laptop and just uninstall windows/mac and reinstall with linux and get away with it.. (correct me if i'm wrong)

Hardly, considering from the claims the company makes it's not stored on the harddrive. I believe the "incompatibility" concerning linux is more about the BIOS flashing/modifying software the company uses.
