Default Can emails be backed up in Outlook Express?

My sister uses Outlook Express for her internet and email, and she wants to know if she backs up her emails (both old and new), address book and favorites from an older version of OE, if the files can be plugged into the newer version that comes with XP.

Her current system runs Win98SE, and the system I'm building for her will run XP. I don't use OE, and don't know much about it. I would think it wouldn't be a problem, but I don't want to give her wrong information.

If it's not fixed, then don't broke it!

Yes, this should help:

How to back up and to restore Outlook Express data

I would get to the files then save them to a disk. I am not sure of the file path in '98 but in XP it will look something like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{DB92F7B1-C2B4-4F9A-BEA4-0AF560BE0E65}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

You will need to have hidden files and folders show.

Additionally, in the new system I would suggest she create a folder named Saved Mail and any mail she wants to save she can place there.

Also, she can save her address book and move it to the new machine.

Ron
