Default BlackViper.com: Windows Vista Super Tweaks

Quote:
The following is what I do directly after a clean install of Windows Vista . This does not mean that everything I do will work for you. Keeping that in mind, ensure you are fully aware of the risks of tweaking your system before doing so. Several of my performance tweaks "reduce" the default functionality of Windows and removes some built in security features. If security is a top priority for you or you are a new user to Vista, refrain from disabling any functionality noted as a security feature.

Blackviper is an awesome site. He dissappeared for a little while and I had to find a new site to find out what services to disable. Good to see he's back.

No - but its worth asking them. Optimize the system by removing the crap first - try decrapifier - I think thats what it is called. One of the Nice things is that Vista comes with MCE - check it out.

BV's suggestions will not really help you in getting noticeable (outside of a bench) performance surges unless you have already stripped the system.

Manta

EDIT: I should note - that I'm not dissing trimming of services - just that trimming alone is not going to make a huge difference unless you have an older/sub-spec system, or you combine service trimming with other tweaks.
