Default Automatic Login And Lock Your Computer

This came to my inbox and I wanted to share it. Looks to me to be a useful set of tools. I've been getting PCmech tips for years most I have no use for but every now and then something like this comes up.

Tell me what you think.

Many of you probably have programs which start when you login to your machine, including monitoring.
While this is useful, if you want to run these programs on a or an AV client such as ClamWin, it can become a security risk to have your computer set to automatically login.

The solution is simple: have the automatically login and then lock itself. This is easily accomplished by using Autologon and Wizmo. To implement this, just do the following:
  1. Run Autologon and have the automatically login as a user with the appropriate permissions.
  2. Set up a new scheduled task which runs when the respective user logs in (usage the scheduled task setting for “At logon”).
  3. Have the scheduled task run the following (without the quotes): “C:\Path\To\This\Tool\wizmo.exe lock”
Now, whenever you restart your computer the system will automatically login and lock itself. This means any applications which start when the respective user logs in will automatically start upon reboot and there is no security risk as the system is locked the moment login occurs.

Its a security risk to be on the login screen? I guess that makes sense cuz if u downloaded something and restarted it could have time to run.

It'll basically be just like if u walked away and hit Window+L, right?

It's an interesting idea, but I'm pretty sure it's not completely safe.
For instance, IIRC you can hold CTRL or Shift while the session logs in to skip startup events. Not sure if that would override the scheduled tasks, though.

I imagine if you have a scheduled task that wakes your PC and you are not at the computer when the task occurs it will start your PC log in allow the task to run but lock the PC to other users without a logon password. If I'm thinking correctly here?

Yes exactly like Win+L or Ctrl+Alt+Delete and selecting Lock Workstation under security.

That's if Fast User switching is disabled. If it's activated it will simply go back to the log in screen where a different user can sign in with his credentials.
