Default Again with the Questions.

Hey all, another question from LadyFrost here. Recently a friend and I developed a website for Iconners [connected with a chatroom called the pork] and we've decided that we'd like to have a gallery so that we don't have too many pages and it doesn't take too long to load up the site.

Anyway I found a gallery host called JAblum that was really great and suited what we needed. But since I'm with Zexxo.com for my web host I can't publish the album as it needs FTP [something I know nothing about] and I've been told that zexxo.com and other free web host's dont have FTP most of the time.

So I've gone looking for another gallery host as I dont want to start paying for a web host. And I've found another one, downloaded the files but now I dont know what to do.

Can someone help me with the next steps, or suggest a good solid gallery host that I can use? I was going to use coppermine but again I dont know what to do after I've downloaded it.

HELP

I wanted something more professional then Photobucket or Imageshack. I mean they are great to have my images on the web but I wanted something that suited my website.

IIRC (If I Remember Correctly) you can enter the FTP settings into a spot in JAlbum that will allow it to be published to your host. You would just need the FTP settings of course. I have used that program myself and uploaded to my ISP website via FTP without a problem.

My Example

found on the zexxo.com site:
Quote:
FTP access is not implented because our business plan is offering free web space while bringing back users to our web site to manage their site. Simply put: Somehow a company has to generate income (ads etc) and if you offer free web space without any ads you need a way to convert traffic into some sort of income to make sure a service is here to stay. If we offer FTP nobody would ever check back to the site as they could just open up their FTP client. Members would also miss important announcements posted to the account manager.
So this means create the albums and manually upload them in the browser

Death_blooms than you. I've had other host's before but I've always gone back to Zexxo because of the fact I find it alot easier to just upload my pages then how they do it on other hosts. I actually don't know how to put my pages up on the site other then using a file manager and uploading them .

I did the pages in Dreamwaver so they're ready to go, I"m just clueless as to how to put them out there on other hosts

How does UnlimitedMB generate money?
I guess their "free" accounts aren't guaranteed or supported? Or what?

But unless U wanna buy hosting, Unlimited MB looks like exactly what you need.

SmartFTP is an excellent program that you can use to manage your website using an FTP interface.
SmartFTP - FTP Client

ALl u need to do is input your IP (your host gives it to you) and your username/pass.
Then click "Connect" and go to public_html and that's your website's homefolder.
