Default Acronis True Image

Ok so I think I made an image of my c drive using True Image but the thing is what I get is a folder withing a folder then a c drive icon what am I supposed to do with this in case of a computer crash? I taught I could just swap the drives . Last time my comp crashed there's no way I could of copied anything on the HD since I couldn't pass the Windows welcome screen.

That is your image file, you need to store that file on another harddrive or some other data storage device.

It is saved on an external drive, so what is the procedure if the original c drive crashes? reformat the drive then copy what is in the Acronis subfolder on the reformated drive?

Na, you don't even have to reformat the C drive.

You'll want to put the backup file on your external HD and also create an Acronis boot disk (Bootable Rescue Media in the TrueImage menu). If your Windows install ever goes pear shaped you just boot from the recovery disc and use it to load the image from your external drive.

I tried to copy what's on my external drive (acronis backup file) I copy what was on that drive and tried to replaced it with the files from the external drive. I got a quick error with a red X ( I didn't have time to read it it was pretty fast) my comp when on idle for maybe 20 seconds and that was it. I still had the original setup has before. Is there a program that would copy the exact same thing on an external drive and in case of a crash I can swap those 2 drives?
