Default Ultra Finally laying down the law?

Ultra Products, Inc. v. Antec, Inc. et al - 6:2008cv00503 - Justia Federal District Court Filings and Dockets

Well, it looks like ultra is finally filing a lawsuit against everyone who's making a modular psu. Lame.

Pathetic. Ultra isn't going to be making friends over this for sure. I'm not sure how a company can sue other companies for making modular power supplies? The lawsuit specifies "intellectual property" but modding a PSU so that it's modular isn't exactly new or hard to do... enthusiasts have been doing it for years. Case in point is FrozenCPU, who, as far as I know, has been modding PSUs far longer than Ultra has been providing PSUs as being modular.

The computer tech world is a tight knit community. I wouldn't be suprised to see if there wasn't some sort of backlash over this.

Yeah, like Ultra going out of business hopefully. All they make are garbage products that'd I'd never recommend to anyone regardless; so if they dropped off the radar I wouldn't lose any sleep.

This can't see this doing them any favors. It just seems to me like they've left it to late.

Whats most ironic about this is just about every other company makes a better Modular PSU then Ultra. Their PSU are the suck.

Doesn't matter if their products "suck"....they created a design that works pretty well...why shouldn't they profit from it?

As to the Tech Sector being a "close knit" community....its really far from it....its a cut throat business.

This will never fly, just like Antec's lawsuit with the LED fan. As long as the design is not the same there isn't a hope and a prayer. You have to give em props to maken the modular PSU mainstream.

Hell, if this does, I can't wait to see which modder goes for Ultra for the lawsuit on coping the idea of there version of a modular PSU!

I noticed they didn't include HIPER. The makers of my fine PSU.

That's weird.
