Default Sunbeamtech UFO Acrylic Cube Case (ACUF-T) Review

Click the image to open in full size.

Sunbeamtech has had a strong history ranging from powerful cooling to completely off the wall cases that look like they are straight out of a science fiction movie set. Perhaps best known for their Tuniq cases, Sunbeamtech also dabbles in processor coolers, memory heat spreaders, thermal paste, LEDs, and other accessories. Many of their products have similar roots of another well known company by the name of OCZ, most recently with Sunbeamtech's release of their Core-Contact Freezer (OCZ Vendetta) and similar style of memory coolers. In the year 2000, they got the start as a manufacturer of cold cathode fluorescent lamps and shortly after extended their range of products that have become popular within the modding community.

Very good review Mike.
The case looks nice but it's not without it's little flaws. The biggest problem would be hiding the cables. You would really benefit from a modular power supply in this case (pun intended :P). Also I can see this getting filled with dust!

Layout is pretty funky, I wonder why they chose to do it this way (comparing with other cube shaped cases)

Good review. I like the looks of acrylic cases but have heard that they require more maintenance to keep them looking good such as dust removal and careful handling to keep scratches off. Good to hear that the case is sturdy since that is usually a weak point with acrylic cases.

Since writing this review, the case has been sitting off to the side working as a server box but still in plain view and has gotten a few comments from friends and family (all good). There is a little bit of dust on the top but a quick wipe off and its clean again. Also since the fans make a wind tunnel type effect frpm the top of the board (by the CPU) to the bottom (by the PCI slots) it keeps everything nice and cool and also doesn't allow much dust to settle so internal cleaning should be minimal with this setup.
Thanks for the comments everyone!

Thanks HL and Corsair!
