Default Be-Quiet StraightPower 600w PSU Review...

Chris Jones (Tuathal) makes his HardwareLogic debut with his first review. I'm esctatic to have him on board, and hey, it only took him about six months from the time he initially joined the staff to the posting of his first contribution! :P Seriously though, a great article from a great guy:
  • We PC enthusiasts like to eat our cake and have it too. We want stable high-performance power, cool operation, and silent running to boot. Come September, Be-Quiet will be releasing the StraightPower 600W Power Supply all across Europe. Come along as we dig into this PSU in order to decide if it’s a sugary treat or a rice-cake in candy bar clothing.

Question: What's wrong with rice cakes?
Answer: Nothing in and of itself, but in candy bar clothing, a rice cake suddenly misrepresents itself.

They sell rice krispies that are in candy bar clothing. They taste great.

Very nice power supply, never heard of them before. Love the name though, Be Quiet!
Are those available in North America?

Not yet they're not, supposedly in September though. The parent company is affiliated with a few recognizable names ---> LINK

Very nicely done, but I have to ask... How can a paint job possibly resuce EMI :?: :?

From my research, it depends greatly upon what type of chemicals and metals are used in the makeup of the finish...

Much like Leaded paint can actually block radio waves - ya know :)

As to the rice cakes... I was thinking something more along the lines of a "healthy treat" then a Rice Crispy treat - seeing as they are filled with sugar, they'd fall under the sugary treat area :P

and Guiness the Irish Treat, lol

but yeah, seems like that PSU is a good deal, if they could only sell them over here, but I can imagine what the inflation would be due to importing them (unless there's an American branch of the company).....all in all, seemingly rock-solid aside from each 12V rail only being able to handle 18A.
