| Any idea's on a good, quiet, modular power supply? Needs to be able to handle 2 8800 gtx's sometime in the future. | ||||||||||||||

| If I'm correct, Silverstone makes some really nice quiet, modular PSU's. You may want to check them out. ![]() Edit: Heres one that would be perfect for your needs, with enough power too: Newegg.com - SILVERSTONE ST75F ATX 12V 2.2 & EPS 12V 750W Power Supply 115 - 240V - Retail Last edited by Parker; February 28th, 2008 at 12:13. | ||||||||||||||

| Thanks for that. Is there any reason not to go modular? I haven't got much room in there and I'm about to add a radiator, pump and stuff so I was just trying to cut down on unused cables. | ||||||||||||||

| Not really, other than just the overall quality of the unit. Some people will talk about the drop in power quality going from a non-modular to a modular PSU, but the technology has improved to the point that thats no longer a real issue. Both modular units I linked are top notch, but neither is the quality of the three non-modular units i linked......and they are more expensive. If I had a choice, and was looking for the best, quietest PSU, I'd pick the PC Power and Cooling Silencer. | Either of the Silverstone Decathlon units are nice and should be reasonably quiet. Two 8800GTX's are going to suck a good bit of power and will require a relatively beefy PSU (I would suggest nothing less than a 650W unit). That said, it's going to be harder and harder to keep those kinds of high-power PSU's quiet when they start pumping out the watts... | ||||||||||||||

| I have both a modular and an non modular in my PC's and I must say they take up about the same amount of space. I use all of the connections on the modular to hook up everything I need in my computer, so its like not having a modular unit anyway since all connections are in use. -1 I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review | ||||||||||||||

| i've got the 750 silencer sitting in an open case (dd torture rack) about two feet from my ears and i can't hear it over any of my low speed fans which are really quiet also. its been rock solid since i've had it and the price has gone down quite a bit since i bought it only a few months ago. i also have the TT850W modular psu in my other system and after hooking up the cables that i need, there really isn't that much space saved. there maybe 1 or 2 cables that weren't used but i wouldn't call it a dramatic improvement in freeing up space inside the case. but of course your results may vary. | I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.
| I really like Silverstone's Decathlon line, which utilizes a single +12V rail design like PC Power & Cooling units (for those that care). The DA750 powers my main system, and is SLI certified. As pointed out above, Corsair puts on out a damn good PSU. | ||||||||||||||
