Robin | The ATX Connector (it is not called a molex), is modified because it contains the wires that tell the powersupply to turn on. The 4-pin and nay other connector do not have these wires.
After you finish modding it, you connect it to what you want to test. It can be put anywhere you want. It only needs to be plugged into an ac outlet using a power cable. You cannot power a system with this powersupply anymore. It is useful for testing components like fans, cathodes, cd drives, and misc.parts but not for hard drives, videocards, motherboards, ram, and other key components. I Like Watercooling.
