Default PSU Suggestions

I am considering upgrading my Main PC Power supply to a superior one that is future proof and able to handle greater loads like newer vid cards.

The one I have now is ok and functional. I got it on a great deal and want it as a backup for several other machines I have in the event they blow their PSU.

I really want an efficient PSU between 550 Watts and 750 Watts ... preferably in the 600 Watt range ... however I want all the internals to be top flight parts ... 105C capacitors etc etc.

I also prefer Modular just because it is nice.

Must be a Newegg purchase since I have a $25 credit there.

It also must be a killer deal ... as ... well that is my habit and I feel better.

I used their power search and here are a few that seem ok ... If I have overlooked something especially unique and of high grade build ... let me know.

Oh ... I also would like to keep it below $125 before my $25 in store credit.

I'll spend more if it is worth the extra.

FSP Group FX700-GLN ATX12V V2.2/EPS12V 700W Power Supply

Not modular tho.

Mushkin 550250 ATX12V / EPS12V 580W Power Supply

Nice ... but I am not sure if the internal components are top flight. It is Modular.

ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ700 ATX12V / EPS12V 700W

Sweet as Kandy ... just a tad over budget ... I think I recall a review that drooled over this one and stated great internals ...

The Corsair HX620W is modular and a VERY good PSU... mine has withstood more than a PSU should

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Yeah I have been eyeballing that one for 6 mos now ... past a few great deals up on it.
Seriously ... that was the one I wanted to pull the trigger on ... but they are not a great deal now.

I hate to say this, but there is no such thing as "future proofing" computer components. ;)

That said, the Corsair is a sweet little PSU.

The Silverstone Decathlon series are awesome as well. Same internals as the Olympia series but it's all modular.

Yeah ... those Silverstone are nice ... but their prices ... well they are proud of them.

Do they have all top spec internals?

Has Manta reviewed any lately within that power and price range? I know we have some great reviews here.

Looking at this PSU but need input ...

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS

There is an additional $10 OFF code for this ... with the $25 off ... it will come to $43 shipped ...

Not sure if the 600 Watts 18Amps per 4 rails and active PFC 80% certified ... will be enough to power an 8800GT or [9400GT] well enough

Any review links?
Experiences with 18A rails?

The price is a killer deal ... it is superior to what I have ... I know it will run an 8800GT ... but I don't know much about the internals and if it is just a marginal choice that has no headroom beyond an 8800GT and full system load.

if your ok, can go with old school non modular SeaSonic ones.
the ocz one you just linked will power the 8800GT just fine.
Im running on Newegg.com - SeaSonic SS-500ES ATX12V/V2.2, EPS12V/V2.91, 500W, PFC, 80+, 2PCI-E (6Pin), Power Supply - OEM
and that only has 17A Rails. I run my 8800GTS G92 with no issues at all.
