Default Which Power supply...

I know I can pick this one out myself, but a new thread to comment on is always good.

I currently have an Antec NeoHE 500w. It's powering:
AMD Athlon X2 3800+ @ 3 ghz 1.42v.
MSI K8N Neo 4 SLI
7800GT stock
Dual Channel 1 gb memory
2 SATA hard drives
1 DVD drive
1 fan controller
3 Panaflos
1 80mm fan
1 Laing D5 / MCP655 pump

There is no instability right now in my setup. But the vcore is weak and according to speedfan, all rails except the 12v are dropping. I have set the vcore to 1.42 in the BIOS but it's only putting out about 1.4 and fluctuates rapidly, sometimes to as low as 1.37.
+12v: 12.46v
3.3v: 3.12v
+5v: 5v

I haven't broken out the multimeter yet, so those numbers could be off a little.

The new powersupply would ideally be modular because it's getting fairly cramped, but I can deal with one that isn't.

whip out the multimeter first. if the rails are droping, then go for the 700w OCZ gamerxtreme

I'm not a NeoHE fan, including their revised units that supposedly have addressed the Asus issue (ask Jeff:Captain Crunch how that worked out), but I wouldn't recommend shelling out for a new PSU until the need arises. If the multimeter verifies the software reading (and it will probably be a little different), then everything is still within spec. The 3.3V is on the border, but I suspect a multimeter reading will be higher; be sure and update us.

If you do ultimate decide to go with a new unit, I like the bang/buck ratios on OCZ's GameXstreams (rebadged Fortrons). For a modular solution, I'd look to Seasonic's M12 series (pricey), Corsair's HX line (rebadged Seasonic M12s), or the Enermax Liberty units. OCZ's EvoStream series would be worth looking into as well, though I haven't used and/or read much about them.

The vCore problem seems to be more mobo related, then PSU. You said the 12v rail is pretty stable, most PWM on new motherboards draw their CPU power straight from the 12v rail. But if the 3.3v and 5v lines are dropping under load, then thats a PSU problem

I measured the atx connector using the multimeter and here's what I got:

3.3v
software: 3.26v
hardware: 3.304-3.305v

5v
software: 4.97
hardware: 5.05

12v
software: 11.86v
hardware: 12.01v

Software = Everest
Hardware = Multimeter

The software readings are inspec, but they do fluctuate quite a bit. I guess I'm just paranoid.

Everything looks spot on. If it were me, I'd revisit the issue once it becomes, well, an issue.

Yea. Software blows. I'm just a paranoid person I guess. I still don't know why the vcore comes out so much lower than what I set it at. Must be my dumbass motherboard. Oh well, it's ok.

Yeah, those voltages look pretty good, I don't see a need to upgrade. Are those measurements idle or load?
