Default Painting the inside of cases??

I am getting a new case for my new system i am building, but i was wondering if there might be any problems from painting the inside of the case. I want to paint it black, probbly a high gloss then a clear on top of it to make it match the outside of the case.

If it shouldnt affect anything, i would scotchbrite the inside to rough it up, then black primer, then black gloss, and a coating of clear.

First off.... why?

Anyways, I doubt it would affect anything, assuming you make absolute sure its dry and don't let the paint touch any of the parts.

Painting the inside is fine, you probably won't have any problems.

Two things.....

First, painting would insulate the case, negating any benefits of the metal transferring heat outside the case. This would probably raise the ambient temperature inside the case a few degrees, but nothing serious.

Second, painting will also prevent anything from shorting out......so its a little positive/little negative thing.....unless you have a large case window, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense though

I painted the inside of a case White to make the lights glow look a little better. One hint - put screws in all the tapped holes first and then remove them when your finished so the holes don't fill with paint.

i was going to say put a piece of tape over the screw holes you are gonna use.
another way to keep the thermal-qualities up, is to only paint what's visible.
don't paint under the mobo, behind the PSU, drives etc.

Why not? I think it would look pretty bad ass if he plans on putting some UV lights in there or some CCT's to brighten things up. I'd like to see what he does do to it if he plans to mod it out like that. =)

also, if it's done black, and so is the cable-sleeving, and any black IDE ribbon cables are ran flat against the back of the case, they become much harder to see, and even though your wiring isn't any better, it appears better, or at least more subtle.
