| yep you guys may have seen my thread, and i think ive pretty much confirmed that my performance (predominantly in games) is a PSU problems. a game more than lagged out today, it shut my computer down, and i tired it 3 times again did the same thing on 5 different games. im using a stripped down 1GB ram, and an 8MB VGA card in my comp right now, and no optical drives im afraid to run a lot on this crappy thing. i have a budget of $150 Canadian, and here are the power supplies I'm looking at. anything $129.99 or below is applicable, since it comes to be just under $149 by a few cents. so here are the contenders: OCZ GameXStream 600W [site says "80% @ 115W (typical load)"] +12V1(18A), +12V2(18A), +12V3(18A), +12V4(18A) - QUAD 12v RAILS total 72A! Enermax Liberty 500W (Modular) [site says "High efficiency of about 80% under wide load range (30-100%)"] +12V1(22A) +12V2(22A) - Dual 12v Rails total 44A. Thermaltake Purepower RX 550W (Modular) - 75% minimum efficiency +12V1(18A) +12V2(18A) 12V3(16A) - Tri 12v Rails total 48A. Cooler Master iGreen 600W [82% (120W) / 85% (300W) / 82% (600W)] +12V1(19.5A) +12V2(19.5A) +12V3(19A) - Tri 12v Rails total 58A. i think, from the looks of it, the enermax is the weakest of the list. seems to be tight between the OCZ and the Cooler Master. your thoughts? any DIFFERENT PSUs you'd recommend? thanks! i'm lucky that i have these funds. im doing some work for my cousin, and he gave me an offer of $225 if i wait til after im done, or $150 pre-payment. if i wasn't really tight for cash like i was now, i would've waited, but this is urgent. thanks. |

| For a modular, get the thermaltake. for a regular, get the OCZ. |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | I'd go with the OCZ, or for a modular solution, the Corsair HX520 on NCIX. |

| lets forget modular or not and look at the best overall, pretending there is no modular feature. OCZ wins? |

| I'm Diggin it! | I agree with One4. The OCZ is the best of that bunch. Q6600@ 3.2GHz w/ CNPS9700 | EVGA 780i | 2Gb Corsair DDR2-800 | EVGA GTX 280 1Gb Video | 1x WD 640Gb HDD, 2x Seagate 400Gb HDD, 1x250Gb WD | 2x Samsung SH-203B Opticals | Antec 900 | ABS/Tagan BZ700 700W PSU |

| Pure Power Power Supply Series-W0083 is that a good PSU? i can get this for $110 cad. 52W on the three 12v rails. i can also get the GameXStream, though, 700W version for $125. both of these are ADS, so i replied to them and waiting for replies. both good deals, im sure the OCZ kills it, but if i cant get it is the TT still good? |
