Default HSPC Tech Station

As I was going through some of my old MaxPC magazines this morning i saw an ad for the HSPC Tech Station: http://www.highspeedpc.com/Merchant2...e=Tech_Station.

Now, do you think this would be a good substitute for a normal case? I am thinking of buying/using one for my next main rig.

What do you think?

Easy to clean and work on, just be careful of spills.

SPills.... :(

I don't think that shoudl be too much of a problem. I'll just put my "drinks" on the other table.

Are there any other Tech stations out there? I'm sure HSPC as some competition.

I don't think the test station would be good for a 24/7 use system because it is so open, anything could happen to the hardware! I'm sure you could do it, but I wouldn't risk it. It is designed for a specific purpose and only one specific purpose (switching and testing parts for short, temporary periods of time), so using it for anything beyond that is at your own risk...

Hmmm. I don't see what the big risks are. There are never any "flying objects" in this room. Usually no food but i do drink in here now and then but i have never spilled (carpet, parents would freak). Pets don't come into this room (blocked off).

What would happen if i kept it in there for a long period of time? I don't see the bad things that could happen.

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

I'm actually working on a review for their new, large Tech Station. It's great for reviewers and extremely frequent upgraders, as you have easy access to all components and it's completely non-conductive.

As for a chassis replacement? I'd consider it, so long as you're comfortable with the risks associated from having your components exposed to the elements 24/7. Definitely has a certain geek factor in going that route, though I wouldn't recommend it on a casual basis.

One idea to make it more manageable would be to outfit it with a plexiglass enclosure/cover that would just slide right over the top.

It's not that anything bad will happen, it's that there is the possibility for lots of unknown, unexpected bad things to go wrong and then poof, your video card is broken or your cat's tail gets stuck in a fan :o

That's what i was thinking after i read blakes post. Its an idea.

I'd have to think more about the risks but there isn't too much.

Actually, they are great for 24/7 operation. I use mine each and every day. You can get one with 1 120mm fan or with 2 120mm fans.
Just be careful because you don't have the protection that a regualer case gives you

I just read the bit-tech review and they say lots of really bad things.

Do you have any things you'd like to say about it?
