| How reliable are Antec PSUs, expecially the ones they place in their server cases? |

| Modder-ator | You're asking a fairly subjective question there, but for the most part they are considered to be among the most reliable PSU brands on the market today; they even have a 3 year warranty. But nothing is perfect and I'm sure you would be able to find plenty of people around the net who have had a bad experience with an Antec unit. On the whole though, I would confidently say they usually considered reliable, even enough for 24/7 operation in a server environment. Just make sure the PSU selected is powerful enough and has the correct features needed to sufficiently power your system... |

| No kidding. I had the misfortune of purchasing two Antec 550w TruePower PSU's awhile back. They worked fine until the point where they fried two of my Audigy2 ZS Platinum soundcards and four 1.44MB floppy drives. Suffice to say, One4u2c advised buying two OCZ 510w PowerStream SLI PSU's to replace the two bad Antec's. I've never had a problem with a PSU since. Those OCZ's are rock solid! |

| Colonel Calamity | I have been running with Antec PSUs since the PII days and never had a problem. Currently have a 350W SmartBlue in my XP3000+ box, over 2 years and never a hiccup or problem, previously had a 300W in my AMD 1400MHz Thunderbird system, and a 250W that ran several systems from PII, PIII then for a short time the Thunderbird system. There are occasional specific models that have problems but overall they are one of if not THE best PSU maker around. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | I'm Diggin it! | I've seen a lot of talk about the 550W Antec Neo HE's going bad. I've got one I had to replce a cooling fan in. I've never had a problem out of an Antec PSU before. That being said, I went with an OCZ GameXStream 700W for my newest build based on One4u2c's recommendation. It's taken everything I've thrown at it and I plan on throwing more at it here soon. | My recent build had an Antec PSU that came with the case, Smartpower 400W. After about 2-3 month of use it started making a buzzing/whistling noise. Probably one of the caps going bad. The voltages were also way off, luckily nothing got damaged. Eventually got it replaced with Enermax, still waiting for the replacement to arrive from Antec. The mistake I made was buying the case/PSU combo. The units they include with the cases are inferior to the retail versions. I have bough another Antec unit before this build, a 350W model that has been in use for a few years now and it's still good. Not sure if I'll trust Antec again. || AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice | Asus A8N5X s939 | OCZ Premier PC3200 Du-Ch 1GB | Sapphire X1600Pro 512MB PCI-e | 1xWD 80Gb & 1xWD 250Gb Sata(s) | Antec SLK3800B Case | Enermax NoiseTaker 485W || |

| If you want another company (which I think you should do unless you're on a budget), go for OCZ. - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 Dell Inspiron 5150 - Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz w/ HT Tech - 512MB PC2700 RAM - 80GB WD Scorpio 5400RPM HD - nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 32MB - XP Pro SP3 |
