| Well my cheap $30 PSU died only after 2 months of use..lol. It was an off brand that I picked up to power the 7800GS. Now I am going for quality. I found a Xion PSU that I like but don't have a clue on the quality of it. I am wanting one that has a few lights in it for looks and that will fit my $80 budget. | Xion psus are very nice, you would definitely benefit from that PSU and its a great value if it fits your $80 budget. obviously they arent the top PSUs you can get, but theyre more than adequate. 44A total on dual 12v rails look good, although it may not be a full 600W (you never know with rebagging, etc) but it seems doubtful to me for it to be any less than 500W even if it is rebagged... good luck! |

I looked them up and found they are above my $80 limit. The XION including shipping was $2 shy of my limit. I found a lot of A+ reviews with only 1 out of 15 being negative. I think I am going to give the XION a try. Thanks for the feedback guys. | The PSU that I had was a LOGISYS PS550A-BK 550W BLACK DUAL FAN SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY. Please don't waste your hard earned cash on this one. I am going to see if I can get my money back from it. | I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | Ack! Logisys has a sense of humor in their wattage ratings, given the asking price: Logisys 480W - $19 shipped Logisys 550W - $25 shipped Logisys 575W - $37 shipped The importance of purchasing a reputable, name brand power supply can't be understated. You're just not going to get a 550W for $25, no matter what the label says. |

| Modder-ator | The thing you want to pay most attention to is the Amps available on the 12V rail(s). That Xion PSU you linked to in your first post seems to have fairly good power available over the 12V rails, but I know nothing about the reliability of Xion units... |

| You know, your system shouldn't really be pulling more than 400W under full load. Why not a good ol' fortron ;) Newegg.com - FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX450-PN, 12cm FAN, version 2.2, 2 SATA, PCI Express, 450W Power Supply - Retail This should be more than enough for your system :D Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe @ 2.80GHz Cooler Master GeminII - Thanks Rich and HL! | Colonel Calamity | With that system I would say it shouldn't pull much over 300W full load so the 450W name brand or better should work perfectly ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. |
