| I was thinking modding the interior of my case with some art/painting. My case is the Tt Armour/aluminum which is a good disapator of heat being its aluminum. Does anyone have any experience in this endeavor? In particular, would anyone know if by painting the interior, how much that would interfer with heat disposal or retention? I'm thinking the paint would act as an insulator of sorts. Any comments? | Modder-ator | I've also never painted the inside of a case, but I've seen it done many times and it looks amazing. As far as heat dissipation goes, personally, I think it's sort of a myth that aluminum cases are cooler than steel cases because the material is supposed to dissipate heat better. How much contact with the case do the hottest components really have? Think about it... Besides the HDD's (which really don't get that hot) there is nothing that will conduct the heat from a CPU or GPU or RAM or chipset to the case besides air (and we all know how well air transfers heat). So I wouldn't be concerned about temperatures when painting the inside of your case, it shouldn't make a bit of difference. I say go for it, it looks awesome! Gloss black is one of the most common colors to paint on the inside of a case, but it all depends on your color scheme I guess. I can't find the link, but I saw someone that found some marble type paint and did it in that. He painted it black first, then put this stringy marble paint on somehow that was a light blue/turquoise color. It was really REALLY neat looking. I think a gloss black with red marble paint would be really neat. But again, it depends on your color scheme for everything. I'll keep looking and see if I can find the link to the case I'm talking about and my rambling about "marble paint" will make more sense. ![]() EDIT: I found it!!! LINKY... |
