both are great power supplies so either should work very well. In the case of looking at everything, may as well go for the Antec as it is a bit higher in wattage.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

My dad has the Antec 850, it's really beefy, and serves quite a lot of power.
But be aware that the Antec will generate a lot of heat, so if your putting this in the bottom of your case then I'd suggest looking at the Corsair.

Corsair has excellent customer support and quality products (I say this from experience).
The corsair PSU's don't tend to get as hot either, I have the next model down from the 750w, I've got the 650w, I'm sitting right next to it and it's absolutely silent. It's never gotten hot to the touch at all, yet it dish's out lot's of juice for my system to drink on.

Either way would be a fine choice IMO.

I don't see why it would... I take those type of stories as a "2 popular items, 1 has problems and it is easy to blame the other or both"... in other words, nvidia cards are popular, antec power supplies are popular so it is easy to falsely claim that the 2 may have problems with each other when in reality they may have a buggy video card or a problematic power supply. Anything else is just hearsay. I have used Antec power supplies with nivida and ATI cards through the years without a single problem. I have used Silverstone and a Corsair power supplies with both types video cards without a problem...

but if it really has sunk in that bad then just go with the Corsair and not worry about it.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Could you be more specific? For example:

1) Does the Antec or Corsair above have any known issues working with NVIDIA videocards?
Not that I'm aware of.

2) Do power supplies in general have issues with NVIDIA videocards?
No.

3) Can power supplies in general have issues with videocards, regardless of brand?
Yes. Both AMD and NVIDIA branded videocards draw heavily on the power supply, more so than any other component in a typical desktop environment. When picking out a power supply, it's imperative to snag a reliabe, name brand unit, both of which Corsair and Antec qualify. Don't take your chances on a generic unit, as potential problems can run the gamut from 'dirty' power, to failing internal components and mis-labeled/represented specs.

Customer Reviews Of Antec TPQ-850 ATX12V / EPS12V 850W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, FCC, TUV, CE, C-tick, CCC, CB - Retail

Manufacture Response:In fact, the TPQ-850 has more than enough power to run an 8800GTX and is SLI certified (posting on slizone.com coming soon). Unfortunately there is what amounts to a recently identified communications problem between some units of the power supply and the firmware on NVIDIA's card that causes an error message to be generated. Antec apologizes for any inconvenience, and is working with NVIDIA to isolate the precise cause and identify the solution as quickly as possible.

Please note that this does not affect the 8800 Ultra or any NVIDIA card besides the 8800GTX, and neither is every Quattro affected. We will shortly have revised units that solve the problem for those who have encountered it, and will gladly swap units for those customers. If you have further questions or need help with any Antec product, please contact Antec Customer Support. Antec is one of the few industry companies to offer toll-free live customer support, which can be reached at
