Default Supreme Commanders Cripples My PC

Well. That's basically it. The new RTS game, Supreme Commanders cripples my computer. With anything higher than the lowest possible settings, it lags. (sometimes even on the lowest settings, it still lags. O_o) Quick question, should i overclock my 7600GT? I'll be putting a VF-900 on it fairly soon as well, and i'll see if i can get some ramsinks.

BTW, it is a revolutionary RTS game. Best RTS i've ever played. Amazing graphics.

Supreme Commander is kicking a lot of systems in the arse. I wouldn't bother with overclocking your 7600GT. The performance gains simply aren't enough to warrant the additional wear and tear on the card. If you do get a VF-900, it comes with ramsinks.

Hell YA! Justin and I have been playing this game all weekend and we can't get enough of it. It's pretty freaking cool. The game even brings my system to it's knees at the lowest settings (but 1280x1024 resolution).

How about this Justin, you give me 100 dollars, I'll upgrade to a GTS and you get my 7800gt. :P

Requirements:
Minimum

* Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Vista
* 1.8 GHz processor
* 512 MB RAM
* 8GB available hard drive space
* 128MB video RAM or greater
* Video card must support geometry instancing
* December 2006 release of DirectX 9.0c

Recommended

* Windows Vista (for DirectX 10)
* 3.0 GHz Intel or equivalent AMD processor or better (A dual-core processor is greatly recommended for acceptable performance.)
* 2GB RAM
* 8GB available hard drive space
* 256 MB Video RAM, with DirectX 9 Vertex Shader/Pixel Shader 2.0 support (Nvidia 6800 or better)
* Internet connection with Cable/DSL speeds

Supreme Commander is designed to take advantage of the special features in Windows Vista and DirectX 10. All capabilities of the game, including the dual-monitor support, are still supported in the DirectX 9 version, although the DirectX 10 version might have improved graphical features.

Is this the first official Direct X 10 game? I read the reviews in PC Gamer, and it looks awesome... how much is it currently running for in stores?

Newegg has the pre-order for $46.99 so I suspect retailers will have it for the typical $50-60
So far no one has it in stock yet

Yea.... Playing with this system is going to be a huge slide show. Justin plays at the absolute lowest settings and it still lags. I almost meet recommended and it still lags.

No, it's not DX10. However, it will use advanced geometry instancing present in DX10 and DX10 cards if available.
