Default Public Teamspeak Servers

What do you guys think about using public Teamspeak Servers? It's a whole lot more efficient than Skype because no one has to host a conference call and there's no dialing involved. Just fire up the program, join the server, and join the channel that the other HL'ers are in. Plus, there's a very very high limit to the amount of people allowed in a channel (conference calls are limited to 5, right?).

And since these servers are public, there's no money involved (software is free).

Stinger has got a server running! hardwarelogic.game-server.cc is the IP! Hop in!

wouldn't that mean anyone could join the conference?

skype conferences are limited AFAIK by your CPU. the faster the CPU the more people

Yeah, and that's a good thing. When playing, all you're going to talk about is CS:S anyway so otherse wouldn't be interested in joining your channel. It relieves the hassle of creating a call and inviting others in... people who want to talk can just join on their free will.

On my skype it says that conference calls are limited to four people and the host.

If you're new to it, I suggest you give it a chance. The only way me and my buds communicate well with each other in-game is through TS. Crucial for scrimming or actual matches.

Ughh... I just read over this post and it seems like I'm giving a plug for that server... but I really don't mean to. I just think it's easier for everyone.

I think its a good Idea. Just to check it out I created a Channel called HardwareLogic. The IP is 70.47.0.38 : 8767 then you look for the HardwareLogic channel. My only question is, since this is a public server if the Channel is empty while we are't playing will they close it? So then everytime we play we will have to create a new channel.

When you are running teamspeak or ts as most of the people refer to it as, you just don't advertise the server. That will keep just anyone from finding it.
Another way to make it more private is to go to this site:
http://www.dyndns.com/ Set up there free dns hosting and get the address.

We could do HL.game-server.cc or maybe to make it harder to find
hardwarelogic.game-server.cc

I have used ts now for a coulpe of years, and the quality is great. It uses way less resorces than skype.

Set it up. I have been using Dyndns since I got to Germany for personal stuff. I would setup the TS server but I don't think it would be practical since I am over here.

as long as you keep the server running and don't shut off your system with the server up, anyone can just jump on when they wish.
It really doesn't matter that you are in Germany. I mean that wouldn't hender the bandwidth at all man.
