Default Problem with game? Or problem with system?

I know it's an old game, but I've been playing FarCry a bit lately. The last couple times I've played, I start having some weird issues after playing for an hour or so. The mercs start to look like 2 dimensional stick figures with their arms and weapons sticking straight out, and they move from side to side like it was a simple shooting gallery. A total restart of the game seems to fix it, but I'm wondering what is causing it.

The video drivers aren't THAT old (93.71), and the video card temps aren't unreasonable (low 50's) and cpu temps are also fine, considering (under 40C).

If it's not fixed, then don't broke it!

To be absolutely honest, I don't know. I used to have it installed on the system I had before this one, and the game has been installed (clean, virgin install) on this system since about April of last year. I don't think I've ever run any update checks on it. I might have to look into that.
