I work at a computer retail store and lets just say we have (NO) mark up on the xbox360. Were not making a damn thing off of it. I was kinda surprised to learn that.

But 900 for the ps3 that seems way high to me.

yeah. i agree. I doubt very many people would buy a console for 900 dollars. I mean sure you got extremeists. However, MOST of us are dead broke.

I'm not sure they are saying people will pay $900 for them (hell, people easily paid that for an XBox around Christmas).
Ther XBox is losing money for M$ in that it costs more for the components than what they are charging, at least initially. When the technology ages a bit, the costs will drop dramatically.... it like us buying a new CPU as soon as it hits the market for $350...then a week later AMD announcing 30% price cuts......
don't feel sorry for Sony, they wouldn't take on a losing venture....even if they lose money initially on the console....they are making up for it on games and accessories.
