Default How to backup COD4

Hey Guys

Quick Q
I've got 101 hrs in on COD4 Call me Commander Craftsman lol I laugh cause I may be a Commander but I suck and have a lot to learn yet. Most times I get killed more than doing the killing. Sad I know but ture.

I've just built my new project. E8400-780i A1-4GB Dominators-9800GTX SSC-Vista Ultim x64-etc

I want to frag COD4 style and don't know how to backup and restore game data, profiles etc

1st is that possible?

2nd How to?

3rd if possible could someone take the time to walk me through it? PLZ!!

I have COD4 installed and updated to same as other PC with Xfire.

I can join a game threw the Xfire interface as owcraftsman but on the new PC I'm a private 1st class but on the old (same screen name) commander.

I see some files that are different and different sizes but it's mixed with some mods and maps that downloaded from some servers I joined prior.
So I'm just not sure which ones to copy and paste.

Help Plz!

Save your profiles folder.

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles

hey thanks Hitman
Actually I did copy and paste that one particular folder from the older machine and it opens the game but again no saved in game data. I probably should have mentioned that.
I thought our game data was saved on the master server and once logged in.......wa la..... but no joy.
I'm at the beginning again
lost single player arcade mode too.

That is weird because the only other way to lose it is if the CD key is differant. I have my profile on 2 machines and back it up when I leave.

Nice Site Lokie!

I must have done something wrong I guess. How exactly do you back it up?
All I did is before opening the game for the first time I copied and pasted
E:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players
to the same location on the new machine.

@ stinger Yea I'll have to spend some time there.

I noticed I had a file I did not copy called 'mods' in the profiles folder on the old machine.
So I C&P in to the new folder but it didn't make a difference.

Ok Update.
I Copied the entire folder on the old machine and pasted it in the new.
Risky given the two formats XP-Pro and Vista x64 but I backed the folder up first
then cleared it prior to pasting.
WaLa all worked profile and all data in tac and played fine.
Although I had some random freezes and lock ups dam Vista.
Nothing is OC'ed yet Guess i got to get drivers right
I'm guessing something more than the Profile folder needs to be backed up.
I still want to be able to go back and forth and hope someone here knows what to do and can detail the process.
Maybe a file sync app I da no
Seems a pity to have to copy the whole thing it should be more simple.

Something I should have said earlier, but I forgot about it, before you copy the profiles folder, you have to create the proflie in COD4, so the config files can be written to. So for example my profile is Hitman, I create the profile Hitman in COD4 first, and once I am done exit the game and copy my old Hitman folder over and it will work.
