| Functional Alcoholic | I have been thinking about getting MS Flight Sim X. I have wanted to get into flight sims for awhile now, just never got around to it. I was wondering if any of you are into flight sims. I am really just wondering if its best to go with a Joystick or a Flight yoke, or does it even matter? Also what are good ones to get? I plan on using WidevieW Since I have 4 computers and 4 monitors, that should get me a decent panoramic view to start out. |

| Wow, lotta monitors. Anyways, go for a flight yoke, it's quite easier. | Hi All, You might want to visit this site CH Products Joysticks, Industrial Joysticks and Gaming Joysticks, Flight Sim Yokes and Throttles and Industrial Trackballs They have IMHO the best equipment for anyone who's interested in Flight Simulation. I'm a big fan of Flight Simulators as well as Naval Simulations, the Original Silent Hunter from Strategic Simulations being my all time favorite. Flight Simulator X looks like a cream of the crop simulator. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Newegg.com - CH Products 200-615IL2 Flight Sim Yoke - Retail I'm sure you're not that willing to spend $110 on a flight yoke, so I would in turn go ahead and purchase a joystick. This Logitech one is loaded for it's price and is a steal at $30ish! | I'm still using my old MS Sidewinder joystick, it has throttle and rudder control. Not the greatest joystick, but it does the job. Have you also considered X-Plane, in my opinion it's more realistic than MS Flight Sim, lets you design your own planes and doesn't need a supercomputer to get decent frame rates at max settings. I usually use my mouse in x-plane to fly the bigger planes, the only time I really need the joystick is when flying a helicopter. Helicopters are a pain in the ass to fly without a proper joystick. EDIT: Just read this on the x-plane site. || AMD Athlon64 3800+ Venice | Asus A8N5X s939 | OCZ Premier PC3200 Du-Ch 1GB | Sapphire X1600Pro 512MB PCI-e | 1xWD 80Gb & 1xWD 250Gb Sata(s) | Antec SLK3800B Case | Enermax NoiseTaker 485W || Last edited by pc_guy; December 24th, 2006 at 10:46. |
