| Since the past few missions (I'm on chapter 08 now), it's been starting to lag, but just intermittently, so it's bearable. But this current level, it's sitting there at 10FPS. I averaged around 40-50FPS before, but this is just crap. Any ideas? - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 Dell Inspiron 5150 - Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz w/ HT Tech - 512MB PC2700 RAM - 80GB WD Scorpio 5400RPM HD - nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 32MB - XP Pro SP3 |

| Turn details down. The machine obviously cannot keep up with the physics and or eye candy. Are you playing FEar: Extraction Point? Chances are the 6800NU is struggling. | No, it's regular FEAR. But why should it lag now? It was working fine before at the same settings... I'm confuzzled. - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 Dell Inspiron 5150 - Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz w/ HT Tech - 512MB PC2700 RAM - 80GB WD Scorpio 5400RPM HD - nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 32MB - XP Pro SP3 |

| Different environments, maps, textures ect. For instance, in FEAR Extraction point, beginning around the 4-5th level, the see-through ninja type bad guys come in waves of about 3 each and run around REAL fast, and that alone put a big strain on my X1900XTX, so I went in and turned down particle counts and AA\AF.. If you don't mind, turn off shadows. Seriously, I live without it now because it really gives out a nice FPS. | |

OK, here's something. I've got this process MsMpEng.exe running, killing half my CPU. This could be it. To the searching! - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 Dell Inspiron 5150 - Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz w/ HT Tech - 512MB PC2700 RAM - 80GB WD Scorpio 5400RPM HD - nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 32MB - XP Pro SP3 | |

| Quick search turns out it's a process related to Windows Defender (installed that very recently) and that's probably the problem. BTW, in FEAR, my lag is 45FPS one sec, 0 the next, 45FPS next sec, 0 the next, and so on. - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 Dell Inspiron 5150 - Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz w/ HT Tech - 512MB PC2700 RAM - 80GB WD Scorpio 5400RPM HD - nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 32MB - XP Pro SP3 |

| FREEDOM! That thing was eating half the CPU for like 10 minutes, went back to 0, then started up again to 50%. I deleted it and now I don't hear any noise from my computer. All quiet! BTW, when you do hear a noise (during CPU usage), is it the hard drive, CPU, or both that's making the noise? - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 250GB Seagate 7200.10RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 Dell Inspiron 5150 - Pentium 4 @ 3.06GHz w/ HT Tech - 512MB PC2700 RAM - 80GB WD Scorpio 5400RPM HD - nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 32MB - XP Pro SP3 |
