Default Do you have a gaming addiction?

So now this is really dumb. So the kid is addicted to the game. Any parent who sees this should like obviously just unplug the computer, take it away, or simply shut off the internet. I cant believe how dumb that lady is, honestly if ya remove it, he wont have nothin to do.

Of course then that book for the psychologists should have already had internet addiction into it, because of the whole Everquest. Since yall know that Everquest was around before WoW, and people have been even more affected by the game. Hell that game was the basis for many MMORPGs.

And then the whole thing on online chat boards. Well technically this could be considered the same thing, and any type of board where you discuss things can be considered as well. The worst thing is that they target one of the biggest MMORPG game nowadays, they dont even touch on FPS, RTS, or anything else. Its always the ones that are in fantasy realities and always have to do with huge amounts of violence. And of course youre going to meet people, but they are people with similar interests. Like on this forum, we all share a common interest in computers. So in essence anyone that has some addiction to technology has a problem.

Therefore anyone that has a cell phone, a TV, game console, telephone, or any form of electronic entertainment is addicted, this includes just about everyone except those in third-world countries and the animal kingdom. It just really ticks me off

EVERYTHING should be handled in moderation....food, games, gambling, etc....anything can lead to addiction if not managed, and when it comes to kids, parents need to be involved in their lives. It really irritates me to see kids running amok, doing as they please, getting into trouble....and parents who don't accept responsibility for thweir kids, or make their kids accept responsibility for their actions.

When it comes to Psychologists and psychiatrists, those people are generally more screwed up than anyone else....in most cases they project their own issues on the people they work with, or councel....and feel medication solves everything.....its sad to see how much meds are handed out today, whereas you nerver saw any of this stuff even 20 yrs ago

First of all... World of Warcraft is probably one of the LEAST violent games out there. Quake 4? Unreal tournament? CS SOURCE!?. In those games you see people get shot, bombed, blown up, maimed, etc. In World of Warcraft you see your little character swing over and over and over and over at an enemy that is doing the exact same thing.

What kinda ticked me off was about a quarter through the movie where he starts talking about the people he plays with online. The reporter makes it sound like the kid is totally wacked. Theres the tone of voice that says "Those people aren't your friends, you hardly even know them, you don't even know what they look like.".

The kid addicted, 16 hours a day is just too much. Come on mom, stop crying and turn the funking game off. Stop paying for the damn subscription, and tell him to pay for the hole in the wall.

All I know is my daughter finishes all her homework and any chores she has for the day before computer time and the games are not totally non violent but limited violence. The computer is a great learning tool and it is also very much like a T.V. when it comes to mindless entertainment. Moderation as Rich says is the way to go.

I wish all parents were like you Joker, but the sad truth is many of them have no business breeding...especially those from the South

Yeah, I think the major problem here is the parenting. It is basically non-existant and the kid is being a dorkus.

As my dad has always said... "Too much of anything is good for nothing"

That's it take their video games away so they have more time to hang out with Gangs. Seriously though parents just need to take more of an intrest in their kids. I am guilty of it myself, the kids are entertained so you have more time to do what you want to do. The problem is your not doing what you should be doing, being a parent.
