Haha! I stumbled on it this morning and I'm so excited! The gameplay looks like it holds true to the first two installments with some great improvements. I too am going to start playing through Diablo II again!! D3 looks like one game i'll be picking up for sure.

Looks good, I just hope they keep it in the battle.net or other free play server types instead of following the childish WoW Pay2Play crap...

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Yeah that's one thing I'm afraid of. They say they are still using Battle.net, but to what extent no one knows yet. I think they would lose a lot of players because of it, but we shall see. There's always LAN games which is where I spent most of my time with my cousins.

Thumbs down Re: Diablo III

I am already quite disapointed. Bad color pallet used. It looks way too much like World of Warcraft. Even Warcraft 3 had more detail, maybe not the physics, but it surely had more detail on objects. This is the alpha stage, but that is the part where they need to get these fixes in before it goes in to beta. Thumbs Down Blizzard, Thumbs Down! I really dislike the seperate player loot too. People use the argument of low pings getting loot first, but that is completely wrong. I used to play Diablo 2 on dial-up and got loot just as easily as those on DSL and Cable at the time. I bet this game will get a T rating.

Because you've extensively play-tested WoW (or any MMO for that matter) and didn't like the "pay to play" structure, right? I'm going to assume that you have played (or at least tried) a subscription based MMO because if you have not, what you just said is ignorant.

But yeah, I've been waiting for D3 to come out since the LoD expansion. As far as a fee-based system with Battle.net, I expect to see the developers to flesh out some kind of pay structure to purchase in game items and/or other rewards/content a la Oblivion style.

You really think so?
WoW

D3

Say what you want about the colors (I personally think WoW's color scheme is goofy and cartoonish), but WoW's graphics are inarguably blocky and lacking in dynamic texture while d3's are smooth, crisp and natural in appearance.

Could you link me to some info on the new loot system?

If you've seen the videos of d3 then surely you must know this statement will probably be proven false. D3 will be chock full of blood and violence.

I agree, but there's a reason why WoW is so wildly successful and that is the implementation of low res graphics and the use of solid colors. This gives people with even the lowliest PC the opportunity to run the game. Barring that, since there is no "realistic" graphics and everything looks cartoonish, the game remains timeless, ie the graphics engine will never need a major overhaul (ie the original EverQuest). That's the beauty of a game like World of Warcraft: simplicity in all design aspects.
