Default Demo Making?

I was wondering if anyone here does any Demo making when playing online games??

I play COD2 online and always dable in the Demo recording part of it. I was curious as to what type of programs you use for Recording your Gameplay, Editing the video, and any tips or tricks for adding music and fades or transitions in the video...

I use COD2 to record the Demo then I reply the Demo and use FRaps to record that. Then I use Virutal DUB to compress the video, but I have a hard time with chopping out the parts of the demo's I don't care for you to see... Id like to add transitions inbetweent he deaths i endure LOL....Anyone recommend any specific easy to use programs?? Currently Virtual Dub seems to be the one to use, but when I compress the file, the quality kinda sucks LOL..

anyways, thanks...

Try using Advanced Free Video Editor

Free Download Free Ultra Video Editor 3.1.0.0 - Powerfull video editing program cut, split.

Don't worry about that pando crap, refuse to install it, you can still cut clips out of a video without it. Anyways, use that program to cut clips from the video, then use windows movie maker to make your movie

the file size is the biggest issue... after using Fraps the files start out at 2gigs roughly depending on the length..... then I have to compress or convert it becasue Fraps recorded programs have there own format. Ill give ur proggy a try, thanks...

Compressing depends on the codec you are using. I recommend XVID for that.
As for cutting out and adding effects, Windows Movie Maker does the job fine, surprinsingly. Be sure to save it as something uncompressed though, so you can recompress with VirtualDub after.

Other than that, I use Adobe Premiere, which is rather complicated though (and rather pricey, too).

Edit: Oh and for capturing I normally record using the in-game demo system, then replay it and save with FRAPS. By the way, 2GB is nothing. I've had some movie taking up in the 20 to 30GB after recording with FRAPS...

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

SO if im understanading.....

Step 1, play and record using in game demo record
Step 2, Run Fraps and record the demo
Step 3, Convert the file using what again?? (File needs to be converted to something to edit, no?)
Step 4, Edit using Windows movie maker
Step 5, Recompress the finished video with VirtualDub (I use the Divx codec to compress if thats okay?)
Step 6 Upload to Youtube :)

That's for the audio. But yeah, I meant straight FRAPS to WMM, then save is uncompressed and encode it with XVID for nice quality. =]

thats why you look at the key moments in the video to the millisecond and use the same timing in audacity, then combine the two once its done
I've only done it once and it worked out well....
