Default Crysis: Another EA Bomb?

Seems a LOT of people are having problems with the game, from various lockups during game play to strange clicking or Clunking sounds coming from their optical drives

EA Forums: DVD Crysis clicking! ...

There is talk of a class action lawsuit, as people have actually had drives die on them.

I happened upon this thread in the Crysis forums, checking for an update......I'm having the clicking issue, but didn't realize it was a problem directly associated with the game until i tried various discs in the drive. I also checked the disk for any scuffs, marks, or anything that might make it unbalanced, but found nothing.

Anyone else have the game and dealt with any issues? As usual, EA has not responded to any of the issues raissed, and will only say, in general, that a patch for the game is in the works and should be released soon.

I haven't had any issues outside of the game itself. One of the most annoying ones in game though, that ultimately caused me to just up and stop playing, all sounds relating to enemy voices happen upwards the 8 to 10 seconds after they should be triggered.
This can be horribly frustrating when engaged in a firefight and trying to figure out if your bullets are actually hitting your targets and theirs pretty much no warning when you've alerted guards and they've called for backup while your still acting all ninja sneaky until a shit ton of guards blast you to hell.

Well, it's EA, what did you expect? I played the new Neef For Speed game, called NFS:Pro Street.
Want my advice? Don't waste your money. Carbon did have it's fair share of problems (random lockups, reboots, game closing suddenly, slowing down) even with the strongest computers around (and strangely enough, not on older computers lol) and pro street is just as worse. Besides, the game concept is shit.
EA games is a company I frankly have no more respect for.

Took my son 2-3 days to play all the way through and beat the game.
No issues except for glitches in video. Nothing that some toning down of specs didn't fix.

EA is a pos company. I play 2142 and have serious problems ... especially with their tech dept which is Manila Phillipines.

That's interesting... it reminds me of Starforce copy protection that UBI tried to start using with some of their games until so many consumers started boycotting it. The boycotters claimed that for Starforce to work, it installed it's own device driver on the users system. I guess the reasoning was that with its own driver they could detect copied CD's and drive emulators. Many people claimed the same thing about noisy and damaged drives. Starforce kept saying that it was a myth made up by hackers, but ultimately UBI stopped using that protection.

It might be worth a look into Crysis' copy protection and see if they are doing something like that, maybe altering/installing drivers or firmware for the drives, which in turn may affect the operation of some drives.

I have had random rendering issues on textures
Nothing like seeing a large Palm tree bright yellow with the words "rendering image" on it.
I also have some sound issues.
Other than that the AI is awful, the combat system sucks. the graphics (when they work) are great and the impact posistioning system is amazing, but
I think they tried to do too much and ended up with nothingworking properly.

I am not impressed with this game, then again I have not been impressed with many games recently.
The exceptions have been CoD4, HL2 EP2, and of course the Best Short Game ever Portal.

I lost a lot of respect for EA after Command & Conquer went to shit......they ruined an incredible game, and series.....and to me at least, thats when they started ignoring complaints and game issues......refusing to address problems and customer support inquiries.

I loved Far Cry, and for the most part enjoyed Crysis, but for whatever reason, had this clicking issue, and toward the end of the game an issue where the entire screen goes pink, like the video card died, after 5-10 minutes of playing, even with my system set to medium detail. i tested the card with 24 hrs of our GPU stress program and a couple hours of HL2:2....without A single graphics issue, and the GPU never exceeded 65C.....so my assumption is another game issue

Usually back ground textures have a Pink underlay and objects have yellow,
you could have been seeing what I was seeing but just in relation to the background textures not rendering...
