The new patch is allowing for much improved server connection times. I'm impressed. And the Christmas map, Winter Crash, is pretty cool. There's Christmas lights all over and Santa can be heard laughing over the sound of gunfire.

They have been cranking them out since the release. Are the mod tools included in this one or is that still being held back?

This game is worth buying period. Honestly though, I don't buy any game through Steam if I can get it retail instead. That pretty much means the only thing I have ever bought through steam is Garry's Mod 10. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review (PC)
