Default Battlefield 2142

Everytime i turn on battlefield 2142 it works fine.. It starts up and the video plays. Everything runs well i can choose my settings and all that, but when i click on AUDIO the game just shuts off and it says bf2142 has shut off. But when i try to load a map and start a single player or multiplayer game it loads normally with the music n all but when it finishes loading the game shuts off... Does anyone know how to fix this problem??? Im running windows vista, could this be a problem?? This game worked for me about a week ago when me n my friend put this pc together but its not my settings cuz i reset defaults in the bios and bf2142 STILL didnt work. Does anyone have a reason or solution for this problem?

What kind of sound card are you using? By looking at some other forums, it looks as if you are not alone. Most everyone experiencing this issue have been using a Creative card of one kind or another, including the X-fi. Some of them have disabled their card and gone back to onboard sound to play the game, it seems to be a driver issue from Creative, and is able to be recreated in XP.

I must have lucked out, I have the creative sound blaster live! 24bit 7.1. and it works perfect with bf2142.

Vista has a little thing called "Compatibility mode" that will allow the game or program to run in XP compatibility mode... should be able to get full surround or whatever you need with the game
