Default Assassin's Creed - anyone playing/played it?

This looks pretty good, but before I plunk down my hard-earned $50 I was looking for some opinions. Anyone tried it?

Never played it but it always caught my attention.
My uncle who has relatively similar tastes in game to me played it on Xbox 360 and said it wasn't a bad game but nothing phenomenal. The whole game idea is apparently pretty clever but it quickly gets repetitive.

Picked up a copy for my son on Amazon last week for $42 shipped.

I have it and it got quite old quite fast. I found the game quite linear, despite the claims that it was extremely open ended. Maybe the game gets better further in the story. I'm only in the third mission (chapter, whatever one wants to call it). For some reason, my computer crashes every time I try to go to the next town (which is literally about a 5 minute irl horse ride from where my game loads), so I'm kind of stuck. Graphics are nice with Assassin's Creed though. The features and the way you interact with the game are awesome in the beginning; but, again, it got old. It's fun and worth a play, but one may feel "fifty-bucks-a-wasted" in a couple weeks.

I much prefer the Prince of Persia Trilogy.

Yeah that's pretty much what my uncle was telling me about it. Cool stuff, but gets old after a while.
I wish every game out had demos too, it's pretty lame to go out to buy a game only to end up deceived.

It's a lot of fun and really cool until you get into battles with a bunch of people then its "lock on.....follow...attack"
that gets old VERY fast.....but they rest of it is fun.
That alone hinders it from worth a purchase for PC, to worth a weekend rent on a console.
I borrowed it from my buddy.

Right on. It definitely gets old and repetitive real fast. Not as open-ended as they claimed. I had it for about a week on the XBOX360. To me the graphics where that typical glowing radiant crap you see in many games nowadays. Just hurt my eyes.
