Default Zalman VF900-Cu VGA Cooler Review

Quote:
alman has been building high quality low-noise cooling solutions for quite a few years now. They first began making silent cooling products in 1999, with the CNPS line, starting with the CNPS3000. The CNPS coolers were a huge success and today, are one of the best silent cooling products. After experiencing success in the CPU cooling market, Zalman tried their hand in the videocard cooling market with the ZM80. The ZM80, a heat-pipe unit, was a popular cooling solution. Spurred on by the success of the ZM80, Zalman released the VF700. The VF700 was based on the CNPS CPU cooling units. The VF700 did not use any heatpipes and was a simple heatsink fan. It cooled very well without being loud and expensive.

Looks very nice; it's just too bad they cost so much. There are plenty of other coolers that are quiet that cool slightly better than stock with quiet operation for much less money so I find it hard to justify spending that much on the Zalman cooler. But it is still a very nice, innovative creation and I have to give Zalman props for always coming out with new designs that seem to work.

How loud did the VF900 sound at high speed?

According to Zalman, it is 25 dB plus or minus 10%. I'm not sure if it really was that loud.

I was looking for your subjective opinion on how loud it sounds. Any noticeable bearing noises or high pitched whines or something like that. So even at full speed, you thought the VF900 was still very quiet?

Oh I see. Well at full speed, the fan sounded just a bit louder than if it were at a low speed. There weren't any bearing noises, high pitched wines, or anything out of the norm. It was VERY hard to hear the fan over all my over the fans. I set my Tricool at low and it was still hard to hear it.
