Default ZALMAN CNPS9500-AM2 Heat Sink Review

Quote:
Zalman specializes in silent, or quiet, computing solutions. Having developed the CNPS (Computer Noise Prevention System) line of products, Zalman is mostly recognized for their CPU and VGA coolers....as well as their marketing affiliation with Fatal1ty,

Today, HardwareLogic introduces you to the latest CPU cooler from Zalman, the CNPS9500-AM2. While I've never been a huge fan of their cooling products (mainly because I value cooling performance over accoustic management), don't let the CNPS moniker fool you, this bad boy in no way sacrifices performance for quiet operation.

I read on the last page that you had to use the Scythe Mini and the corsair w/c kit on a socket 939 system. According to the graphs it performs better but than the other heatsinks but again, these are different systems.

In your opinion, do you think that the Zalman is better than the Scythe Mine?

Read the entire review and you'll see

Although the Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 is primarily marketed for AMD's newest processor line, the lack of comparative heat sinks forced me to match the CNPS9500-AM2 against a group of very good coolers on my s939 system. Aside from using the stock AMD cooler, I chose to use Scythe's cool and super quiet Mine, and Corsair's Nautilus500 water cooling kit.

Yes, I had seen that. But I was unsure whether or not it was better or worse than the Mine or the Nautilus500.

Yes, the CNPS9500-AM2 is better than the Scythe Mine. The Mine, while a good cooler, is really a pain to install and is really only good for silent computing, where the CNPS9500-AM2 has the ability to work either silently or for performance.

Wow. I'm impressed. I never was a fan of Zalman's CPU coolers.
