Default TEC waterblocks?!

Looks like there is a chance Swiftech will release a Thermal Electric Cooling (TEC) waterblock!
<<News Link>>

You guys think this thing will actually be worth $160?

water cooling seems more and more the way to go after seeing so many articles like this.

for what it is, $160 i think is pretty fair if it performs as well as its last version!

Which DDR3 set-up should I use in my new build? HELP!

I don't see any water cooling being worth the money as fast as processors upgrade anymore. I'm sure some will be jazzed though.

Watercooling + TEC guys, not just watercooling. ;D
I think it's "worth it". I mean, the piece might be worth $160, but i'm questionning myself whether or not it's really useful/needed. Unless you're going for some crazier OC, I can't see a TEC being really useful.
Though sometimes, I buy those things just to be the only guy on my block with one so...

unless you are going to push your CPU, and system to the limit....its a complete waste.

A good air cooled solution will satisfy all but the most extreme users

INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU

true. this is only if u wanna almost compete for highest possible. one thing it could be good for if your not a f'd in the head user is if u really just wanna keep ur PC cool so it lasts, and u wanna be cautious and what not. any bit of overclocking it doesnt matter -- the cooler the better. in this case its ultimately a move if u have the extra cash.

if you NEED it, for any reason, then this particular piece definitely is worth what the pricetag says, but if you're not hardcore watercooler, u can buy entire sets for less -- this is a high end water cooling block no doubt.

well, I understand what your point is, but a tech is just "too" extreme to be of any use really. Most processors hit their sweet spot between 1.45-1.5 V, anything over that usually requires more voltage than its worth. Having said that, 1.5V is perfectly acceptable 24/7 on air. I'd even say a decent water cooling kit like the Corsair Nautilus 500, Thermaltake Big Water (new one), and Cooler Master Aqua-Viva are plenty good. They provide a good balance of silent operation and good cooling performance.

I've considered water-cooling in the past. But for how simple air is, I think I'll stick with it.

With the price of computer components now-a-days, I just can't see putting $160 into the water-block alone.

But then, I'm happy with my 975Mhz on air overclock too.

Q6600@ 3.2GHz w/ CNPS9700 | EVGA 780i | 2Gb Corsair DDR2-800 | EVGA GTX 280 1Gb Video | 1x WD 640Gb HDD, 2x Seagate 400Gb HDD, 1x250Gb WD | 2x Samsung SH-203B Opticals | Antec 900 | ABS/Tagan BZ700 700W PSU

I water cool and I'm happy with the performance over air. Was it worth it? Yes I think it's worth it. My water cooling loop will be compatible with just as everything as long as the company who made the blocks continue to release new mounting plates.

Would I get a TEC water block? No I don't think thats necessary. Of course these products appeal to a certain audience. An audience that I don't think, for the most part, is present in this forum.

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

And not to mention that this $160 TEC waterblock uses 226watts!!!! Well now a lot of people that are running the $150 650watt power supplies will be looking at finally spending the $300 plus on the 1gw monster psu!!!
