Default Oh the problems i have

Sorry to be complaining to you all so much, but i'm starting to hate my computer. First i think its an error within the OS so i do a fresh install, i picked up a trojan or two from some site, my antivirus caught it though. So i tried reinstalling windows in a hope that it wouldnt freeze. It didnt for a few hours, then all of a sudden it decided to freeze. So i started it up again, downloaded Everest Home Edition, and checked my temps. CPU was at 50 degrees Celcius and GPU was at 60 degrees Celcius. So I took the side panel off, the temp of the CPU fluctuated between 49 and 51, THEN IT FROZE AGAIN . . . So now i have moved it from below my desk to on top of it. With the sidepanel off and a large room fan going on high pointed directly at the computer. Keep in mind these temps are when the system is at idle or near to it. Additionally i have only 29 processes going in the taskmanager window shindig. So now the temps of the CPU are ranging anywhere from 48 to 56.

What i find extremely strange is that I have gone to LAN parties and even around 10 computers, being on for countless hours, intense gaming and carpet floors and against walls it doesnt freeze. Im at a loss for words for whats happening.

So I'm assuming stock voltage then?

Might be a virus. See if your computer will stay working long enough to do a virus scan.

There is definitely a hardware problem in the mix here. I'd say target the PSU first. Try it in a different computer and see what happens. Next guess would be CPU/Mobo.

Also go through more basic precautions like making sure the heatsink is properly installed, good thermal past contact, etc.

I don't think it's a virus either, sounds like you might have a failing PSU. Your temps don't sound out of the norm. So I don't think it's an overheating problem.

well i cant be the PSU, I traded Blake my 600W for his modular 580W, and with both PSUs it has froze. Would a failing PSU still allow me to open the CD drive?

The heatsink is fully secured, as for thermal paste, i don't have any handy so that may have to wait.
