| Well I put together an interesting combination of things and have my rig on water now. So far.....very nice!! Alphacool Nexxxos XP lite 775 block Swiftech 120 rad with radbox Swiftech Microres Swiftech Mcp600 All 3/8 ID tubes Before on my Scythe Katana 775 at stock speeds 35 idel and 50 load After on water at stock speeds..........................24 idle and 35 load I know......I know.......pics....pics.......right? I have everything outside the case now till I'm sure it is ok.....tested all night and no leaks. I want to build some kind of plexi case for the components. That will wait though. Ok...pics Take a look at the mounting for the block.....very nice.....no motherboard removal and mounts perfectly. ![]() ![]() I'll be back with more results in a few when I overclock it back to where it was in my sig. Well.....it looks like it was worth the trouble. Scythe Katana 775 at 4ghz 42 Idle and 60 load Water at 4ghz 32 idle and 48 load ![]() So I was able to drop about 12 degrees C at 4ghz under a full load. I'm impressed. It think it will be ready for a C2D soon ![]() Commodore 64 overclocked into outerspace ![]() Last edited by jph1589; November 8th, 2006 at 09:21. |

| Nice drop! From what I can see in your pictures, it looks like your good to go for C2D. How much did you pay for those parts? ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |

The alphcool blocks are on sale at voyeurmods for $25 .....really like the mounting kit the send with it. Swiftech rad MCR120 with radbox at voyeurmods for $35.....changed the fan to a quiet one i had laying around. Pump was compliments of Capper (Thank you sir) Would normally be about $80 and then clamps....hoses......coolant was the usual prices. The fittings are all perfect seal G 1/4 -3/8 not barbed except for the rad and pump which already had straight 3/8 fittings. I tried to use a DangerDen Mag II LE but it just made too much noice so I'm RMAing it. It may not work in this system. I may use in in the science demo that I talked about the other day. It is making some noise still, but there may be some bubbles in the pump. Not sure how long it takes to get those out. Commodore 64 overclocked into outerspace ![]() | |

| I'm Diggin it! | Very nicely done! I'm surprised about the DD pump tho. They've always been recommended as top notch. Bro, you have GOT to get a C2D. You could really rock the Pi with that. | I woke up to a scare this morning. Apparently the power company had a scheduled (didnt tell me) outage in the middle of the night. Their recording said they were replacing a pole (must have been one hell of a pole). All my electric is underground by the way LOL. Anyway.......we hadn't lost power completely. They just browned us out for 2 hours straight. So my computer never really turned off all the way. It just sat there fighting to stay alive and wouldn't give up. The hard drive light was on solid (I was sure that was the kiss of death with Raid 0). The pump wasn't making it's usual high pitched locust noise, but it was still running (slower). The screen was blank.......cable modem had all yellow lights on it........the routers we completely comdused with all lights on solid. I woke up wanting to puke from the thought of all the damage. I hurried around and shut off all the power strips in the house and waited.......I guess the trip to the gas-station for coffee and cream sticks helped calm me a little. They had enough power to sell coffee and donuts but no gas. Anyway......I was sure there was at least one computer in the house that was cooked. But when the power came back on and I turned everything on, there wasn't a problem anywhere. I was amazed. So I guess the point of this rambling is that a UPS didn't seem very expensive at all when I was facing maybe having to rebuild my baby. I think that will be my next purchase. If anyone has any recommedations for battery backup/intelligent power monitoring, I'd be very glad to hear them. Might be a good idea for a HL review? Commodore 64 overclocked into outerspace ![]() |

| A brownout scared the living hell out of me one time to. At the office I tech and owrk out, we a had a brownout one day. All the lights dimmed and the PCs didn't have a UPS. All the PCs monitors went black, the power light was flashing and the HDD light was solid. Some error message came up finally which I was sure had something to do with it cursing me out about not having enough power to operate. I mapped "C:\Program Files\Peacthree\company" on one computer as Z: on all the others, so everyone uses the same companies when working, such as reconciling a bank statement. Anyways, this alone was enough to convince my boss to buy UPSes for the important comps (especially the one with the Peachtree and quickbooks company folders). Now, I'm just going out on a limb here, but I think most PSUs are designed to direct most power the 5v rail in case of a power shortage, so the hard disk doesn't screw up. All the solid state stuff would be fine during a power shortage. Could br wrong though, I could never find any information about what really happens. I recommend visiting these 2 sites. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninter...e_power_supply http://www.jetcafe.org/npc/doc/ups-faq.html#05 The UPSes we have are: OPTI-UPS Enhanced Series ES1000C 1000VA 700W. I would personnaly recommend any of OPTI-UPS's products. Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe @ 2.80GHz Cooler Master GeminII - Thanks Rich and HL!
