| I was hoping to get some opinions on what heatsinks work well. my g/f computer is a compaq presario sr2180nx. it has a pentium D 820 and the stock cooler just sucks. i need to know what good h/s that have 80/92mm fans are good(it's mATX). The Fan uses a 4-pin connector. And yes, i know it's a (sigh) pre-fab but she likes it and i cant get her to get rid of it. |

| It's on the LGA775 platform right? Any concern to noise? Off the top of my head, I'd have to say the Thermalright Ultra-90. it uses a 92mm fan, but you'll have to buy that separately. | I'm Evil | You could choose any number of coolers....if you are looking to balance noise and performance, I'd look at Zalman's CNPS9500 or 9700. Thermaltake also has a couple nice options in the Orb and V1, the V1 might be your best option, as its quite, adjustable speed, and doesn't require motherboard removal. | I'm Evil | I believe its a 3-pin fan, which will work fine, It also includes a fan controller. Few aftermarket fans actually use a 4-pin connector. INTEL QX9650 ASUS P5E3 Premium 4GB DDR3-1600 Sapphire HD 3870X2 Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C) 5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5 BFG ES 800W PSU |

| 5 Minute Mod Man | 3 pins will likely work on a 4-pin mobo. Many mobos have 4 pins but most HSFs still have 3 pins... Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO is not a bad option either. I think you can get those Arctic Cooling HSFs in the 4 pin if you get the "PRO" version. Just make sure it says it is "PWM" in the specs. Those you can get for a really good price, and they do a decent job at cooling. They are going for about $20 at Newegg. |

| Nope, "alarms" should only go off if there is no fan plugged in at all (like with a water block).
