| An idea that seems pretty good just popped into my head. This is too do with the copper plates i have been hoarding by the way. Say i take an aluminum heastsink like the stock a64. Then i use some arctic epoxy, thinly spread it, then put a copper plate on it. The plate is thin, a few mm, and i would sand it so that it is very smooth and flat. Would it be more efficient? I have my doubts... ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |

| Modder-ator | I have my doubts too. I would confidently say "No". Reason being that you are adding an extra layer of TIM to transfer heat through, which I'm sure you know is not very efficient. Aluminum will transfer heat much better than TIM. And the difference in cooling ability between aluminum and copper is not that big. If you have two identical heatsinks, one with a copper base and the other with an aluminum base (and both with aluminum fins), the performance difference would be negligable. So even if it would be more efficient to try and add a copper base to an aluminum heatsink (which it is not) the difference would be so negligable/minimal (if any) that it would not be worth your time. That's my thought on the whole thing anyway... |

| hmm, maybe I should replace my 4/0 copper wire in the house with some 2/0 aluminum, lol......I got enough copper if it were worth that much down here (which it might be), I would be alright for a bit, lol |
