Default The HardwareLogic Thermal Compound Round-Up

Last week, I happened upon a forum thread about thermal compounds; asking which was best for a variety of scenarios. This got me thinking that maybe it was time to take a look at the various cooling solutions available on the market.

After a visit to Newegg.com, and spending $85, I now have more syringes than Amy Winehouse. Today, we'll cover every thermal compound we can find (more than 20), and explain things like thermal resistance, conductivity, and which thermal compound is the best choice for you. While the performance results may not be dramatically different (which is actually a good thing), we'll dig a little deeper and look at things a bit differently.

That's a super informative write up,Rich. If someone can't make a decision, based on all the information you provide, then I don't know what.Excellent job! I think it was a good decission to do a comprehensive study of the selected compounds.Well done.

Everything came out just great. Great collection of data for one to digest in making a decision.

I would rather read a NewEgg review than a [H] review

Ah yes, this article. I was waiting for it. Superb writeup, extremely informative. It covers pretty much everything one has to know about thermal compounds.

So much numbers, it's crazy to crunch and read haha. :P I like that you put in green the 5 best performers. Do you think it would be possible to color code the 5 "worst" performers?

I don't know if it's necessary, but I saw you vulgarized most acronyms and terms. However you make use of IHS at some point, and I'm not sure you explained what it was.

Insane review nonetheless. I hope that people reading it will see all the time spent on testing every of those thermal compounds 3 times on 2 heatsinks. Combine that with the cure time and you have pretty much a darned long review.

I'm surprised in a good way by OCZ FreeZe, I never thought it would be that good to be honest.

Good job Rich.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

Great write up! I think this is the most current and definitive database for thermal compounds! Must have been a bitch doing all the testing! Thanks for a great job Rich.

Looks like it has been Dugg twice now. Ooops.

Very cool Rich (no pun intended), I can't imagine how much tedious work was involved with putting all this together. Thanks a bunch!!!
