Good stuff. Its fairly common knowledge that Diamonds would make an awesome cooling solution....the problem is price, and of course making something that can be brought to market.

We've actually been asked to take part in a beta testing program of a company's new thermal paste.....can't say what company, but it should be fun/interesting.

INTEL QX9650
ASUS P5E3 Premium
4GB DDR3-1600
Sapphire HD 3870X2
Danger Den Tower-26 (Custom W/C)
5 x Seagate 250GB HDD in RAID5
BFG ES 800W PSU

Ooo. Very interesting.

I've always wondered about Diamond thermal paste but the price would just be way too high! How much do you think it would cost?

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

well given the fact that man can make diamonds in like 3 days, probably not much if a company started to mass produce them

that's a very expensive process.

It's not likely Apollo Diamond is going to mass produce diamonds to grind them down to dust for thermal paste. I am eyeballing my wife’s wedding ring however. Grind it down and mix it up with some thermal paste. At least it will have more of a use to me

Three things come to mind from reading the article:

1) Way too much fluff in the article. The only area of real interest is the end result. I'd trade every graph on that page for a single one comparing the actual temps.

2) A diamond based paste is likely going to cost an arm and a leg, and like the Killer NIC and Ageia PhysX, the question of need comes to mind.

3) "Disclosure: Joe Citarella has a financial interest in a company developing cooling products for electronic chip cooling." - That's akin to reading a review of Vista written by Bill Gates.

Here's my opinion on it. Thermal grease, when properly applied, no matter the product, is suitable for 97% of the community. There's that 3% that has to have every last degree shaken out so that they achieve the best super pi times and so on.

Proper application is the key. You may experience a degree change between products of 1-2 degrees when an application delta is used with all products. For me, I use AS5 with exceptional results.

To change, I would have to see some serious differences in temps. Greater than 3-4 degrees C.
