Default CPU Temperature shoots up

Whenever I run a 3D game like World of Warcraft, my CPU would raise rapidly from an idle temperature of 58 c to at least 75c +. After a bit like 20 minutes of play, my computer would freeze and my options would be let it sit for a bit and it will unfreeze and continue to work until a bit later or restart my computer.

posting computer specs later, not home atm etc.

edit: when i exit the game, temperature immediately goes down to 65 then slowly back to whatever it feels like.

has the problem just started recently? have you added any new hardware? when was the last time you cleaned out your system? other than those questions, we cant help you much more without knowing whats in your system

Man, your temperatures are WAY too high. You need to take the side panel off your computer and blow out the system with some compressed air, then make sure the CPU fan is spinning.....then maybe have someone reapply the thermal compound and then reseat the CPU for you

It is normal for your CPU temperature to rise when you are putting a lot of load on it (a 3D game would do that) but those temps are way too high! You may have a lot of dust in your system blocking airflow, or your heatsink on the CPU maybe improperly seated resulting in bad temps.

Yea, that is some insane temps!!!! Something is really wrong somewhere. As mentioned, clean the system out with compressed air, and if you know someone local that can make sure your heat sink and fan are working properly!

need to post your computer specs by using this guide : Making a signature

then from there we will be able to take some questions and find out what could be the problem... i thought my C2D E6600 at a 9700LED was worst at 45-55C temps and 32-45C @ H2O loop... most problem rely on HSF and CPU, FANS and ventilations inside the computer.

sounds to me like the CPU fan died or is completely clogged... if it only started one day then the case may have been bumped partially knocking the cooler off of the CPU.
clean out the case, fans and CPU cooler completely and check to see if the cooler did come loose.

Thanks HL and Corsair!
