| So I ripped out all the case fans from my newly purchased Cosmos 1000. I tried putting my S-Flex 1600 to replace them, but the case was still running ridiculously hot. Was going to put Ultra Kaze 3000rpm ones in the case instead, but local microcenter didn't have any in stock anymore. Picked up 3 Silverstone FM121 as it was the highest CFM fan they had in stock. Now it comes with the mounting bracket for 3.5in drive bay to control the fan speed, but i wanted to use my Scythe fan controller to control it. I plugged the molex to power, but the 3pin fan wire only has one yellow wire connected to the back, and its not letting me adjust the speed of the fans. Anything to let me be able to work it? Btw pics of the new case fans. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| F Ucn rd dis U mst uzUNIX | Seen the case a lot, but don't see the fans or the wiring that you're working with here. I "think" you have a 3-pin connector with just one yellow wire, and then the power from the molex. So, you'd just get some pins and move the power from the molex to the mini-connector. If that's the way it's oriented, then it's not adjusting from the power supply, just giving DC speed feedback. Last edited by Boy'nBlack; June 14th, 2008 at 23:35. |

| Not sure exactly what you are looking at but typically as to the fan with a 3 pin connector. Pin 1 is generally a Black wire and common. Pin 2 is generally a Red wire and fan power. Pin 3 is generally a white or yellow wire and is the tachometer signal out from the fan. I am just not sure of the controller you are using. I am guessing the controller has a power connector that mates with a 4 pin (Molex) connector for power to the controller. Then power lines that run to the fans? This is incomplete but does provide an overview of fan speed control: Fan Speed Control Ron |

| Yeah thats exactly what Im using, the fan controller provides the power to the fans. Now these silverstones only have the pin 3 yellow wires and the regular 4 pin molex for power. And yeah my fan controller's just telling me how fast they spinning (2400RPM) but wont actually adjust with it. So is there anything I can do that'll let me control it? Silverstone has an adapter with it that connects to another wire that i assume is the pin 1 and 2. I don't want to be mounting 3 adaptors on that sucker, especially since that controller is only 3.5in. |

| Well assuming you have this: Scythe "KAMA-METER" Multi Functional Controller on 5.25" Bay Looking at this picture: Scythe "KAMA-METER" Multi Functional Controller on 5.25" Bay -Accessory Left to right I see what looks like 4 pin Molex power connector for the unit, temperature probes for four locations, and the 3 wire fan controller cables (4 EA.). The fans you have have 3 wire connectors? If yes, they should mate with the fan connector cables from the controller? Ron |

| I actually use the KAZE Master one here: Scythe "KAZE MASTER" Fan Controller But its the same concept. The fan has a 3 wire connector, but it only has the yellow wire on it. Doesn't have the black and red wires on pin 1 and 2. http://www.madboxpc.com/reviews/vent...120mm/Todo.jpg Thats the best image i can find without taking my own. But as you can see, it comes with a controller itself but its a 3.5 mount -__- Im guessing the Pin 1 and 2 are that little black wire and they only have pin 3 as the traditional 3 pin brown connector. |

| did you happen to hook up the fan's 4 pin molex to the psu? if you did, disconnect it. the only connection to the fans should be the 3 pin to the scythe controller edit: ok, i just saw your last post and the problem is obvious now. you'll need to run the red and black wires to the 3 pin connector in order for your fans to operate properly using the scythe. this would require some modding though. you might be better off returning this fan for a different one that uses the traditional 3 pin connector. or you could buy an 3 pin fan to 4 pin molex adaptor but it might not show the correct fan speeds. | Yeah the problem is I don't know how to get the red and black wire to the 3 pin. IS there a 4pin molex to 3 pin wire cable somewhere? |

| Yeah i guess i'll go check it out again see if i can get one. These fans are great as in that they really lowered the temp of the cosmos from mid/high 50s to now in the 30s. |
