Default ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro vs. ZALMAN CNPS9500

Which one of these CPU coolers would OC a E6600 on a Evga 680i board better, or if not them, which one would?

Thanks

Gigabyte Rocket 3D II CPU Cooler Review - Testing & Our Recommendation

Here's a pretty good comparative using a 680i motherboard.

I'd recommend the Big Typhoon from Thermaltake or the Cooler Master GeminiII

INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU

Generally, I'd say yes....but its totally dependent on the rest of your system, including your case....as well as the ambient temperatures you are working in....please post your system specs in your signature so we can help you.

Well its gonna be for my next system. I have in mind these specs:

Thermaltake Armor w/25cm fan
OCZ DDR2-800 PC6400 2GB RAM
Evga 680i mobo
OCZ 700watt PSU

I'm thinking that these components are the major ones needed for overclocking the CPU?

If you are new to overclocking, they are a great foundation. What is your time frame for this build?

Okay, we have a LOT of really neat stuff that will be hitting the market in the 4Q of 2007....its very likely that we'll be recommending a whole new set of hardware by then.

Is the case and PSU good enough?

That is a very popular case choice and I'm sure it will do you fine. The power supply is also quite good, but I would prefer a Silverstone Olympia 650W OP650.

As for CPU coolers, all of the options listed so far are great choices. I would like to toss in the Thermalright Ultra 120 to the mix as well though, it has topped the performance charts of many reviews around the net and can be configured with any fan that suits your needs. There is also an updated version of this cooler with six heatpipes instead of four called the Ultra 120 Extreme...
