| Hi i was wondering if i should use a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro or a Thermaltake Blue Orb II on a Q9300? Project Luxray Complete |

| Modder-ator | I disagree, I would take the Freezer 7 over the Blue Orb II any day. A Q9300 is a quad core processor that will generally put out more heat than a dual core, yes, but the clock speed is still fairly low (comparitively speaking). Both would probably get the job done, but I would prefer the Freezer 7 if I had to choose between the two (cheaper cost and quieter, more reliable operation due to the better fan). But there are a lot of great coolers that can be had for under $40. Check out the Xigmatek HDT-S1283, Zerotherm Zen, Scythe Nina Plus, Thermalright Ultra 90, OCZ Vendetta 2, etc (the list goes on and on). I would whole-heartedly recommend any of the heatsinks I just listed. |

| The thing is ill be using the coolermaster elite 340 so headroom wise for cpu coolers im not to sure and i might consider just joining the e8400 gang, as il be using the pc to game (crysis and such) but also to clip mp3s and dj. I dont know which will be better for me because my main aim is to have the pc run fast cool and quiet. I want it to last for a while as well since im investing in a Nvidia GTX 260. | Modder-ator | For gaming, go for the faster clocked dual core. For lots of multitasking or heavy encoding/decoding/etc. the quad might be a better choice. More often than not though, I would take the dual core. Is there a price limit on either the processor or the heatsink? |

| Well it was basically the cheapest one with the most decent perfomance for what i need it for when it came to the cpu. I think ill go for the E8400 ive used it before and its a BEAST but i did wanna have the right to say "i have a QUAD core my friend" *sigh* lol The cooler i dont want to spend more then about £20/$40, most of my money is going on the gtx 260. (btw i know its a bit off topic but is there a marked difference in performance between the gtx 260 and a 8800GT?) Project Luxray Complete |

| Modder-ator | For the video card, have you considered the HD 4870? It is priced a bit less and performs about even with the GTX 260. As for heatsinks, the ones I listed in post #3 are all very good for their price and are my recommendations. |

| Modder-ator | The Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme is one of the best heatsinks on the market right now and would probably outperform a GeminII for processor temps, but not for motherboard temps (because the GeminII has two 120mm fans that blow down onto the motherboard). But the "TRUE" as people call it is very expensive and you will be paying top dollar for it. |
