Default 8800gt meets thermaltake lanbox

Help!, im building for a mate and i have this question.

Though i know an 8800 GT can fit inside a thermaltake lanbox, would it be cool enough to run effectively i.e. i can use riva tuner to lower the fan speed to make it quieter:

Heres the lanbox and 8800gt product pages.

Yes, it'll fit fine. But I wouldn't run the fan at a lower speed than it already is. If it was me, I'd raise the fan speed to 80%, that'll give good enough temps for me to be comfortable playing games....
But 50% would be fine.

Does it make a loud noise straight out the box?

Haha, nope not at all. It's inaudible, and still almost inaudible at 50%.
+ with all the extra fans in the case, you won't be able to tell a difference.

I wouldn't waste $40 on that cooler, it's not much of a gain over the stock cooler. I would re-apply the thermal paste on the card though, not on the memory heatsinks, just the core. The memory sinks have thermal pads on them, just use those.

If you want to get an aftermarket cooler, I'd suggest the DuOrb.

If going with the DuoOrb, get it a good chunk cheaper at Newegg ($41.99 shipped versus $54.89 shipped)...

I believe Bokranator is in the UK anyways... so he can't use Petra's or Newegg.
