Arrow 7950gx2 air cooling

hey, youre probably thinking this is ofn, but i just got one second hand, so anyway here goes...
i know that you can watercool these things, but i just wanna air cool it, so I'm gonna get the swiftech double spacing kit and a pair of aftermarket air coolers, the problem is though that none of them really state that they can fit onto a gx2 (besides the thermalright hr03, but i dont want 2 of those hanging of the card(s???) ), only a couple say "7950 series", which is vague at best. so, i was wondering if anyone knows of one that is compatible (ive heard the zalman zf900 is, but i am not sure) with the card so i can buy a pair of them.
any and all help appreciated

If the HR-03 fits on it, then if you can find any other heatsinks that have the same video card compatibility list you should be ok as far as the mounting holes lining up. Getting it to physically fit on (or between) the card(s) is another story you're just going to have to take your best bet on.

That might be a question for an nVidia rep. See if you can e-mail nVidia to get an answer. You might also try contacting some reviewers who reviewed the 7950GT and see if they can measure the mounting holes for you.

I did find this and this detailing the mounting hole dimensions of the 7950GX2 if that helps... :dontknow:

hmmm... cant find anything to scale. lots of pcb layouts and stuff, but no technical drawings with dimensions on them. I'm gonna hyjack my own thread here, and ask any forum users with this card if the could help me out my getting an acurate measure of the distance between each of the hsf's mounting holes.
or find me a link :)

Edit: Ive seen gt's sold with (wat look to be) a zalman zf700, but they are not in the supported list, would they be supported???

I'd try contacting Nvidia directly about it.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 + Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL + Thermalright HR-05 IFX
2GB G.Skill 800MHz F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
Silverstone Decathlon 650W
Western Digital 250GB SATA II

I'm questioning the usefulness of what you're trying to do. You want to ditch money on a card that is outdated?
I'm not quite sure how much money you've already put in buying a second hand Nvidia 7950GX2 that might not be under warranty anymore, but you know that a 8800GT 512MB does near 18-20k on 3DMark05 when you can expect 12-14k with a 7950GX2?
And that the 7950GX2 requires more power?
Oh and it doesn't support DX10. :/

The 8800GT 512MB can be had for around $363 AU.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?
